Before School Program

7:00 AM - 9:35 AM

2016-17 Varsity Lakes Middle School

Lightning Watch Program / Before School Program

The “Lightning Watch Program” is designed to provide a supervised environment for Varsity Lakes Middle School students prior to 9:00 a.m. The program will operate from 7:00 to 9:35 a.m. every student school day. After 9:00 a.m., all students may enter campus and will be supervised free of charge in the cafe. All students dropped off prior to 9:00 a.m. must be enrolled in the Lightning Watch Program or a referral will be written for being on campus.

If you wish to enroll your child in this program for next year, you may send your completed registration form and $10.00 registration fee to the school. Receipts will be given out at open house in August. Registration will be recorded immediately upon receipt of the $10.00 fee to reserve your student(s) space. Registration will be recorded on a first come first service basis. Registration fees are non-refundable. The costs that your child incurred (registration fees and daily charges) may be tax deductible. A receipt will be issued every time money is turned into the school during the previous calendar year for a possible childcare deduction.

The cost of the program is $5.00 per day that your child attends and payments must be received in advance. We encourage the use of checks for record keeping purposes. A check may be written for multiple week and /or days and will be credited to your student’s account. Please make checks payable to “Varsity Lakes Middle School” and note on the check your student’s name. Exact cash or check is required, no change will be given. Non-payment of fees will result in having your child sit in the foyer of the gym or cafeteria where they will be supervised by an adult, instead of joining the other students, and may result in dismissal from the program. Student will still be charged for the day.

The Lee County School District does not extend credit to the Before School Programs.

Students enrolled in the Lightning Watch Program must adhere to the District Code of Conduct and rules of Varsity Lakes Middle School. Violations of either may result in students being removed from the program.

The school clinic will not be open until 9:35 am. All necessary medications must be administered at home, or in the clinic after 9:35.

No electronic devices are allowed in the morning program. All cell phones must be turned off and kept out of sight.

Students will be in the gym on Monday’s and Friday’s. On Tuesday’s, Wednesday’s and Thursday’s they will meet in the Cafeteria. No food or drink may be brought on campus. Breakfast will be served daily at 8:35 to anyone who wants it. There is a vending machine in the cafeteria and gym with nutritional food and drink in which the students may purchase.
