Testing & Assessment

Statewide Assessments - FSA/EOC

Section 1002.41, F.S., requires the parent to provide for an annual evaluation of the home education student. A student in a home education setting must be evaluated once a year to demonstrate educational progress at a level equivalent to his or her abilities. The parent/guardian selects the method evaluation from those provided in the Florida Statute, then files a copy of the evaluation annually in the superintendent's office.  Participation in a statewide assessment may satisfy the annual evaluation requirement.  Participation in statewide testing is NEVER a requirement for Home Education students.

In the event, you would like your student to participate in statewide assessments including, Florida Standards Assessments and/or End of Course exams, please contact the Home Education Department.  Your student may participate in testing at the school nearest your home but arrangements MUST be made through the Home Education Department.  Florida State Assessments are offered during four specifically established windows: July, September, December, April/May.
