Principal's Message

Varsity Lakes Middle Families. I do hope you are having fun in the sun, spending quality time with your dearest of friends and families. In a few weeks our scholars will be returning to the Home of the Lightning Bolt. I have attached the following documents that will be useful in your Back-to-School preparation:

· Dress Code

· Optional School Supplies Grade 6 Students: A special Meet and Greet session. Plan to be with us from 3:00 to 5:30 p.m. Grade 7 students: Please have all immunizations done before returning to school. This is REQUIRED before students are admitted to school. Before Care Fees required to be paid in advance of using the service. Students cannot be dropped off for Before Care unless fees are paid in advance. Sign up available at Open House.

Chevoneese Anderson Thomas EdD (Dr. A T)

Principal:

Dr. Chevoneese Anderson Thomas EdD, (Dr A T) is thrilled to be the Principal at Varsity Lakes Middle School. an Assistant Principal at Island Coast High School. Her education was launched in Jamaica, where she earned a teaching and management degree. Her graduate and post graduate studies were accomplished at Nova Southeastern University of Florida. Prior to being an assistant principal, she served as teacher, project coordinator, marketer, and data coach. She believes that school is a microcosm of the world, and every student is capable of being successful.  As a former classroom teacher both in regular and exceptional education, she combines business and education best practices to foster efficient and well managed learning atmosphere to support a successful learning atmosphere.

Assistant Principal's

Mr. Alexander Ledo is an Assistant Principal at Varsity Lakes Middle School. He graduated from Havana University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English language. Mr. Ledo came to the United States and completed a Master of Science in Education at Le Moyne College. He obtained a Master’s in Educational Leadership from Grand Canyon University. Mr. Ledo worked as a teacher for eighteen years at the elementary, middle, and high school levels, served as Department Chair and Dean of Students. He also presented professional development to staff. He aims to build positive relationships with students, parents, and staff, to create a safe learning environment conducive to academic growth. He loves to travel and enjoys gardening, bicycling, and fishing.

Mr. Flynn has been an educator for 13 years and is about to enter his 14th year. His passion for education came from his parents who were lifelong educators. His career began in 2010 at Trafalgar Middle as a paraprofessional. Soon after he began teaching mathematics. In 2015 he finished his master's degree in educational leadership and sought out leadership experience in various educational institutions. Eventually his journey led him to Success Academy where he made the transition from classroom teacher to behavior specialist. Mr. Flynn's time there was invaluable and led him to Varsity Lakes Middle School where he became a Dean of Discipline and eventually an Assistant Principal. In his free time, he enjoys playing a variety of sports and musical instruments. Mr. Flynn looks forward to continuing his career within the Lee County School District for years to come.

BACK-TO-SCHOOL IMMUNIZATIONS Media Contact: Imani Stafford Public Information Officer [email protected] (239) 332-9653 Fort Myers, Fla. — The Florida Department of Health in Lee County (FDOH Lee) would like to remind and encourage parents of kindergartners, 7th graders, out-of-state, transfer, and college students to make sure their children’s immunizations are up to date before the start of the new school year. All students are required to receive the Tdap booster before entering 7th grade. Children may receive the Tdap booster as early as age 11. Vaccines are free of charge for children through age 18. FDOH Lee will be administering Tdap immunizations at various locations and is accepting appointments for all back-to-school immunizations at our Michigan Avenue office Monday-Friday or during our Saturday clinics.
