Parents:
We are very excited about the upcoming school year. I/we will send several messengers throughout the summer with some focal points for the 22-23 school year.
Our two biggest goals will be to build relationships with students/families and to have consistent communication. I want to be a “go to” for students and parents. We will always welcome your thoughts and questions. Below I will try to address some focal points from our VLMS Team and some questions we have received.
- Lockers will not be utilized throughout the school year.
- Backpacks are allowed at school.
- ***Air pods are not allowed in school.
- ***Cell phones are allowed at school but must be turned off and stored in backpacks.
- We really appreciate your support with this as we want to focus on learning from the time students enter until they leave.
- Students will be allowed to wear button or zippered jackets as long as jackets are unzipped or unbuttoned.
- If a jacket has a hood the hood must remain down and not on the student’s head when they are in the building.
- No sandals or crocs and please have students wear close toed shoes.
I am sure there are many more questions and we have some opportunities to answer these questions coming up, on August 1st from 9:00 am to 11:00 am, we’ve invited incoming 6th Graders to come to school for our “Lightning Meet and Greet”.
Parent of 6th Graders will receive a postcard in late June with this information as well as phone messengers. We ask that parents drop students off at 9:00 am and return at 10:30 for a 30-minute parent time with school staff so we can answer questions and talk about important things we covered with their son/daughter.
On August 4th, we will have our school wide Open House from 4:00 pm to 6:30 pm. During this event students will be provided their tentative schedule. Please note that finalized schedules will not be available until August 9th via the student FOCUS Portal, as we are awaiting the State of Florida to release FSA results. Another way to get questions answered is to call school and ask. We appreciate you all so much for asking questions and always want to answer them in a timely manner.
Thanks for your support,
