VLMS Lightning Interscholastic Athletics
The Interscholastic Athletics Program at Varsity Lakes Middle School is an excellent opportunity for students to learn a sport, be active after school, and have fun with friends. All sports are available for boys and girls. We have basketball, cross country, volleyball, soccer, track and field, golf, and tennis.
All participants in the program must have a Varsity Lakes Insurance Verification Form filled out completely and signed. This form covers all sports for the entire school year. Insurance is required! If you do not have insurance, school insurance is available. School insurance is $8.00 and covers injuries that occur during school activities. School Insurance forms need to be sent to the company on the form and do not get returned to the school. Please note on the form that you purchased school insurance.
Tryouts last for three weeks and are open to any student who wishes to participate, unless they are under disciplinary action. After this time, a team will be picked to compete against other schools in the area. Teams are chosen by the coach based on grades, attitude, knowledge, teamwork, and physical ability. Playing time will be at the coach's discretion.
Tryouts will mostly be Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays from 4:15 to 5:20 pm. An activity bus will be provided for students who ride the bus to school. The bus should leave school by 5:45 pm and will only make stops that are assigned. Everyone else must be picked up by a parent/guardian no later than 5:30 pm. Those who are not picked up on time may not be allowed to participate in future activities.
